ANNUAL DINNER

This year (2010) The Refuge will be focussing on Hero's....not the type that wear capes and blue and red suits but rahter the heros that can be found in the youth themselves for overcoming various challenges and obstacles in their lives, the heros that can be found in the staff and volunteers of The Refuge as well as the heros that can be found through the supporters of The Refuge. Heros will also be our theme for This year's Annual Dinner that will take place on Thursday, April 29th at Octavien's Banquet Hall located in the Oshawa Best Western. Tickets this year will be $40 p.p. and will include a $10 tax receipt. There will also be great items that will be put up for auction. "This past month we celebrated Valentine's Day .... a day of love. What if love and relationships cause you stress? Exactly what do you do to handle relational stress? In the past two months here at The Refuge we as staff and volunteers have witnessed relational stresses and break-ups that have impacted over 40 lives. Some of these relationships have been together for just a month or two, others have been in tact for years. Some involve the parting of a father from his children and others the parting of a father from his unborn child. Each year The Refuge receives many requests from students attending a high school Civics or Youth in Philanthropy class asking many of the same questions. We at The Refuge have made your research task easier by creating a document of commonly asked questions by civics/youth in philanthropy class students. The Refuge exists show to God's love and compassion to the at-risk and street youth of the Durham Region community in such a manner that will bring about positive life changes in their lives. We accomplish these goals through programs that are focussed on preventation and intervention.
