STREET BEAT
Street Beat is a preventive program delivered in elementary and secondary schools to instill an understanding of homelessness and educate children and youth to find alternative solutions to running away from home from home or joining street gangs for dealing with their problems.
Each year, thousands of young people are presented with the Street Beat program. Past presentations have occurred at The Downtown Oshawa’s Children Fair and Racing Against Drugs.
This is what some of the past participants have saying about our program.
"It was good because a lot of people don’t know where to go to get help if they are having trouble."
"The presentation is kid friendly, not just like a speech."
"It’s good to talk about your problems at home instead of running away." Our class believes this presentation definitely proves helpful for our youth."
Mr. Richards and the Grade 7 class
Harmony Rd. Public School
"I learned a lot of good information and realized just how good I have it compared to some people. It was a really well done presentation that gave me insight."
Grade 10 Student

Jack Houghton

"There are times in my own life that I have thought about running away and have contemplated suicide, but today through your presentation I now know that there are young people with lives much worse that my own. You have shown me that I can make a difference in someone else’s life. You made a difference for me."
Grade 12 Student

"This was an excellent presentation. I think you covered everything and this was a wake up call. Right now my life is heading that way and I don’t want to end up like that."
