KALIDEOSCOPE ART
For some people verbal communication comes very easily. For others it does not and they find it easier to communicate their thoughts, feelings and who they are through various forms of art.
The Kaleidoscope art program runs each week and uses a variety of different media to bring about expression and the start of a healing process of often hidden or suppressed feelings and emotions. Some forms of art and expression used included paint, food, natural materials, the art of movement, spray paint and the art of music.
Through art, the Kaleidoscope art program develops better communication skills and provides opportunities for healthy self-assessment. This program also creates a non-judgmental forum for participants to discuss challenges, decisions, and reflections and to develop strategies for wellness and an understanding of God's infinite love. Another goal of the Kaleidoscope is to see art activities make visible what has been hidden or suppressed for so long in our youth's lives. It also creates a positive and safe venue for self-expression. It will be through these discussions that healing will begin and home will be created.
